What the project does.

This project supports the provision of safe water to hundreds of households within the Central Province of Zambia. By providing access to safe water, households consume less firewood during the process of water purification, resulting in a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from the combustion process.

The project is implemented as VPA 32 under the International Programme for Safe Water Access and Efficient Cookstoves (GS7591), a Gold Standard Programme of Activities beyond emission reductions, the programme delivers additional community benefits, including reduced illnesses related to unsafe drinking water and smoke inhalation, increased gender equality, and less time and money spent on firewood collection.

The project is estimated to deliver 64,419 tCO₂e in emission reductions annually. To date, 225,830 Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) have been issued across vintages 2020 to 2025.
