Verified carbon projects sit alongside reduction. They do not make a venue or event carbon neutral or net zero.

What the project does.

The project aims to support the installation of grid-connected solar power plants in India. This initiative will enhance energy security, diversify the grid’s energy sources, and promote sustainable growth in India’s electricity generation sector. The primary goal is to increase the country’s renewable energy capacity. A key factor in achieving this goal is the revenue generated from the sale of Verified Carbon Units (VCUs), which plays a crucial role in funding and implementing these renewable energy projects.

The proposed greenfield projects involve the installation of solar power plants with a total capacity of 480 MW, built on sites where no renewable power plants have previously existed. The solar power generated by the project will replace electricity from thermal power stations that feed into the Indian grid and reduce the use of diesel generators during power shortages.

The project has a strong commitment to environmental and sustainable development that benefit local communities through the following contributions:

As a renewable source of energy, solar energy reduces the dependence on fossil fuels and conserves natural resources which are on the verge of depletion. The clean energy technology used reduces specific pollutants like SOx, NOx, and SPM associated with conventional thermal power generation facilities and does not negatively impact the health of local communities. As a result of its zero emissions, the project activity also helps in avoiding significant amounts of GHG emissions.
