What the project does.
This project introduces low-carbon power generation by utilizing natural gas combined cycle technology to produce 800 MW of electricity for the Singapore national grid. The plant replaces higher-emission coal-based power generation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while improving efficiency.
The combined cycle system uses advanced gas turbines, which recover exhaust heat to produce additional electricity. This increases fuel efficiency and significantly lowers carbon emissions compared to conventional coal or oil-fired power plants.
By contributing to Singapore’s energy transition, the project enhances energy security, reduces reliance on imported coal, and aligns with the country’s climate action goals.
