What the project does.
The main goal of this project is to produce clean electricity using renewable wind energy, reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and helping to combat climate change. Located in Jhimpir, District Thatta, Sindh, Pakistan, this project has a total capacity of 49.5 MW which will be supplied to the local grid. As the project relies solely on wind power, it doesn’t require any other inputs and won’t produce any greenhouse gas emissions throughout its entire lifetime.
Over 33 wind turbines have been installed, generating clean energy to replace the existing fossil fuel intensive energy on the grid, with the aim of reducing GHG emissions by an estimated 91,085 tCO2e per year. By generating an estimated 143.6 GWh per year, this project aims to alleviate some of Pakistan’s energy crisis periods, contributing to a reduction in the number of black-outs and brown-outs experienced by other grid users.
The project has a strong commitment to environmental and sustainable development that benefit local communities through the following contributions:
As one of the cleanest sources of renewable energy, wind power not only reduces the dependence on fossil fuels but also conserves natural resources which are on the verge of depletion. Due to its zero emission this clean energy technology reduces specific pollutants such as SOx, NOx, and SPM associated with conventional thermal power generation facilities and does not negatively impact the health of local communities.
