One Tribe is proud to formally announce its successful attainment of ICROA (International Carbon Reduction & Offset Alliance) accreditation. This significant achievement highlights our company’s unwavering commitment to excellence within the voluntary carbon market (VCM), highlighting our dedication to transparency and work to the highest standards in carbon offsetting. The ICROA accreditation stands as a hallmark of quality, affirming that One Tribe’s services meet the most stringent international criteria and that the climate projects within One Tribe’s portfolio are rigorously audited in line with internationally recognised best practices.
The ICROA Accreditation program, established in 2008, is the recognised industry benchmark for companies operating in the VCM. It ensures that organisations promoting greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, removals, and the use of carbon credits uphold the highest level of environmental integrity, aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
The Code of Best Practice ensures ICROA Accredited organisations, and their clients, undertake carbon management strategies that lead to ambitious and impactful climate action.
Accreditation is renewed annually through a third-party audit, based on the criteria outlined in the ICROA Code of Best Practice, which sets the guidelines and requirements for maintaining high standards of integrity and is regularly updated to reflect the latest and best practices in the VCM.
In today’s rapidly evolving Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), trust and transparency are paramount. As climate concerns intensify and more organisations commit to reducing their carbon footprint, the demand for reliable carbon offsets has surged. However, the VCM has not been without its challenges, including growing scrutiny over the legitimacy and effectiveness of carbon offset projects. In this landscape, accreditation by reputable bodies like the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA) becomes more than just a badge of honour—it is a crucial indicator of integrity, transparency, and adherence to best practices.
“Being accredited by ICROA is a key milestone for One Tribe, particularly in light of the scrutiny and changes within the VCM and is a testament to our commitment to operating with the highest integrity and supports our aim to build and maintain trust in carbon offsets as an integral part of carbon reduction strategies,” says Galia Orme, One Tribe’s Head of Projects and Legal, who led the accreditation process.
One Tribe believes the protection and restoration of biodiversity is key to meaningful climate action and understands that climate finance is one of the most important ways to protect our planet’s ecosystems. As such it focuses on sourcing nature-based solutions and carbon projects that offer co-benefits to people and our planet. Meeting industry standards, conducting extensive due diligence and ensuring transparency in all its transactions ensures the protection of biodiversity is conducted in a measurable and auditable manner that ensures good practice within the carbon market.
Antoine Diemert, ICROA Programme Director, said: “We congratulate One Tribe on successfully achieving ICROA accreditation. This milestone underscores their commitment to high-quality carbon project standards and their dedication to driving impactful climate solutions. They will join other ICROA-accredited companies in advancing change in the global voluntary carbon markets.”
The journey to ICROA accreditation is not an easy one—it requires a deep commitment to integrity and the adoption of best practices at every level of the organisation. As an ICROA accredited organisation, when transacting or retiring carbon credits, One Tribe commits to sourcing carbon credits that adhere to the following principles:
ICROA accredited organisations are also encouraged to support sustainable development within the projects they develop and offer. These organisations pledge to use only carbon credits that have been or will be validated, verified, and registered under the ICROA Carbon Crediting Endorsement Programme.
ICROA has been a prominent leader in the voluntary carbon market for more than a decade, offering quality assurance and guidance on emissions reductions and the use of high-quality carbon credits. As a newly ICROA accredited company, One Tribe will continue its commitment to sourcing high quality carbon credits and offering carbon solutions that meet the highest industry standards.
